Description

IT IS DONE IhopeIamnottoolate the deadline said September 20th but still ffff

This is for the min-kin Broken Branches prompt! My partner here is FeatherySpirit with Iona.

We discussed our character's personalities and decided that if they'd were to meet in a place like these, the remains of what was once a forest, Iona would start playing around, hopping over branches and on trunks, enjoying herself. Zartan, wannabe cool as he is, would at first be annoyed by this childlike creature and ignore her presence, but as she kept going he'd warm up to her and eventually start playing along because he actually loves attention and socializing. And that's how their friendship began.

This, even though challenging, was so much fun to draw :D I spent about 3,5 hours on this today, don't know about yesterday but it must've been a few hours at least. I'm glad I did this after all, I was insecure about my art at first but it was good practice! And FeatherySpirit, I hope I drew Iona well here ^^

Alright first, poses are dynamic and fun to look at and everything looks neat and natural. No wonky anatomy, so that's good. I think a bit more exaggeration to expression Zartan's expression would have helped to tell the story more, but regardless I think it looks good. Something I will recommend is to try shading and highlighting characters with different colors instead of the classic black/white or blue/yellow combo. It can add some fun contrasts and help to really set the characters in the background. Not that there's anything wrong with black/white shading but changing colors can really add form.

As for the landscape, I think that the foreground and the background both look great- foreground has more details than the background. The only thing that is missing is the middle ground. It seems like an awkward transition from front to back, like there's a gap or space where there's no branches. I also think that the background should continue going farther than it is. It seems to kinda... stop. I think that you got the gradual transition down to show distance, but there should be a bit more detail to show that the branches closer to the front are branches like the ones in the foreground.

I still think you did an excellent job for a fully landscaped piece and I hope that what I said is at least somewhat helpful!
