Description

It's time,,,,, for the yearly summary. Once again with the same template, for the third year in a row. Oops
The template was made by DustBunnyThumper and a blank one can be found here!
As for art criteria, I only used digital art, all of it was drawn at least partly in DeviantArt muro but was also edited in Paint Tool SAI. In the description below, you will find links to each individual piece, as well as an overview of the events from each month!
2017 was a HECK OF A YEAR so many things happened and I didn't always get to draw as much. Or when I did, it was often owed art, as I got a lot more commissions than I had before. I changed a few things in the way I drew, and I feel I may have made some art progress in more than one area.

I did Inktober this year too, I can't show it here because just picking one piece from that entire month seemed a little limited as I drew many things I liked that month! All of those pieces can be found here or in my traditional art gallery folder.
Anyway, on to the actual description!

Previous years
2016 - 2015 - 2014 - 2013 - 2012 - 2011

January
You can put the blame on me
Same story as every January for the past few years - I had exams and I was dying Squirtle. I wrote two papers, felt awful during the entire process, had a few other exams, somehow generally did surprisingly well at most of it? Huh. Not much art, because I was too occupied with things.

February
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
I feel like absolutely nothing happened in February, but I did get a two day job at some point. Nice. Other than that, uuuu art. Nice. I obtained Fix! And I also suddenly got a lot of commissions and I have no idea where that came from? But either way that was Good. I was very occupied with Life is Strange and that probably didn't change.

March
The One That Could Have Been
Same as March, that is, procrastinating my bachelor thesis, doing commissions, watching Friends, playing Night in the Woods also. And probably generally still feeling bad. But that would take a while to change pffff. I had to kickstart myself into my bachelor thesis at the very end of the month because I'd been putting it off since November. I was stressed, probably.

April
That's when something wild calls you home
More bachelor thesis stuff, more stress, etc. BUT I did get to meet Kyotics, which was one of the best memories of my life. It was a great weekend, followed by stressing about stuff

May
Melancholy Letters
I mean literally all I did was draw and be stressed so I guess that's enough of an explanation

June
Sparring Partners
Exams I guess? We had a weird unexpected heat wave in June and that was basically as much of summer as we got that year. I applied for jobs during the summer, got really down about not getting anywhere with that. But I actually started to feel a lot better in general this month. Ketchup also happened! Which was great.

July
Maybe if the stars align
I'm still very much into Life is Strange, I actually got a job this month so less art than I planned at the beginning of July because I was tired and had less time. I had my birthday and felt a lot better than before for a change. July was a good month. probably the best I'd been all year.

August
Nighttime Walk
I had to study and fell rIGHT BACK INTO FEELING BAD for reasons and also my brother got hospitalized so the entire month was being at home to study and going to the hospital a couple of times. Not great, but what can you do. The commission flow kind of stopped, which was also good because, well, I needed to study.

September
Are you one of us
I unexpectedly got a job for September (despite barely being qualified, probably) that required me getting up at 5 AM every day and left me with little time or energy to draw during the day, so not that much art and the art I did make isn't always good because I was so tired. Ah well? But it was nice to have a job for the month. The art I made at the end of the month was nice.

October
New Beginnings
INKTOBER meaning So Many Art Pieces I drew daily, it left me with little time for other art but it was a nice challenge and it made me draw some new things! Plus, I got to use my art tools again. Nice. I did the challenge together with TheDogzLife who I met at the end of the month in England along with a bunch of other people. It was a great experience, and I am glad I did it! University sucked but everything else did not. So much platonic love. Overall also a solid good month.

November
Don't worry, we're fine in here
I know this was submitted in December, but it was drawn in November so, it technically counts. November consisted of me having no energy to draw, finishing Bienie's reference sheet on no energy, and then after that, for some reason I can't quite explain nor justify, opening Advent commissions and joining 4 Secret Santas. Then the rest of the month was me slowly and painfully getting art done for December, not getting to submit much in November. And a bunch of personal stuff happening too.

December
I'm Gonna Follow My Heart Right Back To You
Me finishing more art, and basically, having no drawing motivation but forcing myself to draw regardless. Which actually worked out okay, apparently, given that I got all the owed art done in time? Nice nice. I like most of the full art I did in December. More personal stuff happened. A few things went wrong but they might be getting better. Merry crisis

And that was it for 2017! In 2018, I mainly just want to... get better at art, honestly. I'm too tired to focus on art most of the time, but I would like to get better. Let's hope I can do that. Maybe draw some better looking humans somewhere along the way, too. I feel like I may have improved on backgrounds in 2017, and I also used thinner lines and layer modes for shading, which contributed to my art looking a lot better than it did before.

Here's to a good 2018! :star:
